My Story
Hi and welcome to Strength and Recovery! My name is Josh Logan, and I am the owner and founder of S & R. I started this business with the primary purpose of helping as many people as possible. With over 20 years of substance abuse with alcohol, and other drugs, it got to the point where I was purposely drinking myself to death. I know what that living hell of addiction is like and what it feels like to hit rock bottom. During the end of my drinking run I ballooned up to over 300 pounds, so I also know what it's like to feel uncomfortable in my body, to have zero self-confidence and self-esteem and to feel unwanted.
Now with multiple years of sobriety, along with multiple years working in the recovery field, I decided to launch Strength and Recovery. I work with substance abuse programs to teach clients how to properly complete exercises so that they feel more comfortable walking into a fitness facility once they complete their treatment. While doing so, I also teach people how to use exercise as a tool in their journey to a sober life. I also have partnered with a company that I used to be a sales rep for that has nutritional supplements and skin care and beauty products (we all want to look good, admit it) that actually work, and we have technology to prove they work. It is imperative to focus on your physical, and mental, health early on in sobriety. The reason for me partnering with them is not only is it a great company with amazing products, they also have many initiatives to help people such as a goal of ending child hunger worldwide and environmental programs as well.
After years of abusing my body, neglecting my ex-wife, ignoring my friends and losing everything, I decided that I wanted to live and to turn my life around. I went to rehab and that's where my journey to a better life began. As a former athlete, before having 3 screws put into my knee, I knew my way around the gym, but I didn't realize the additional benefits exercise had to offer. I learned how to use fitness as a tool in my recovery and as a path to a better life. We all have triggers, whether in recovery or not, and rather than go to the bar and drink my problems away, I went to the gym. When my anger level was high, anxiety through the roof or depression so bad I wanted to end it all I would work out and while doing so I started feeling my feelings in a healthy way and letting them out rather than stuffing them down deep inside to wreak havoc on my life later. I've found that the mental health benefits of fitness are EXTREMELY underrated.
I have lived a life of hell in addiction and the misery of being obese. The best part of recovery and/or a weight loss journey is that you NEVER have to do it alone. My goal is to help as many people as possible and we can make life better, together, one day at a time.
